studio ceramics are produced with parallel themes to my sculpture practice

GAIA terracotta pot. Height: 35cm, Width 22cm
The form is influenced by the vases produced in North Korea. The materials are natural and earthy - terracotta clay and natural oxide slips.
The motif of emerging female face from a lake or pool seems to represent the emergence of a more conscious understanding of the desire to connect with the mother. The full moon reflected on dark water is a motif laden with symbolism for the passing of time, and the monthly cycle.

Containment storage jar. Height: 50cm Width 30cm

Four curled figures decorate this massive terracotta storage jar.
