Carved ceramic forests

These pieces are inspired by beautiful natural forms.
Ancient drays that transformed over time into tracks, then roads. Over-hanging trees make traffic tunnels.
I'm reminded of burrows and our connection to mammals in the Surrey Hills. It's an area of outstanding natural beauty.
My aim is to make miniature versions - subverting the tunnel into a tube by hand throwing tall vases on the potter's wheel,
then carving through the clay walls to create  pseudo 3d environments.
Enhanced by interior light, these ceramic sculptures throw evocative forest shadows onto the wall.
