Running Dancing Boy
What is running aside from a determination to escape the past; to prove oneself, to be entirely alone, ahead of others? A sculpture of a running boy can therfore be nothing but ironic - a static freeze frame capturing the most energetic age.
It's complex. He has a finely tuned body, like a Porshe on a racetrack. Foot on the gas... but also on the brakes, screaching round a track at a snails pace.
We want to capture youth, but this boy dodges, dances, avoidant. A bright white feather weight.

The 'All Powerful Child'... a superman - protected by a chiselled, overdeveloped physique.
The clay figure is cast with three layers of silicone rubber, then a 6-part jesmonite jacket*. The figure was then cast in 730 white marble Jesmonite , then cut back with acid etch to reveal the sparkling marble aggregate.
The medium of Jesmonite was selected for environmental reasons over resin (despite that being more flexible, durable and lightweight).

The base is a hollow concrete box, cast inside a bespoke flat-board shuttered crate with white cement, sand and white marble chips. The base represents a pandora's box of life history.

Running Dancing Boy has subsequently been exhibited at The Landmark Art Centre, Teddington.
